The park is located in El Mirage. The park is a bustling center of commerce, innovation, and research. The project began as a joint venture with Worcester Business Development Corporation to redevelop an area of blight. Today, the Park includes three buildings housing the Robotics Engineering Department, the Biomanufacturing Education, and Training Center, and the Business School. The Center for Life Sciences and Bioengineering also resides there.
For families with children, a park is a great place for a picnic or a family outing. It offers shaded picnic tables and benches, basketball courts, and a splash park for the kids. There are also restrooms and barbecues for use, and there are concessions on-site. The park has plenty to offer families, so plan ahead and make your trip to Gateway Park a family outing! The city has 35 parks and recreation centers in Yuma, and Gateway Park is no exception.
The new light rail station at the intersection of 60th Avenue and Federal Street is also part of Gateway Park. The project includes improvements to the park’s landscape, including concrete walkways and park furnishings, as well as a public art installation. Additionally, additional irrigation and turfgrass will be installed at the park. Work on the park’s landscaping will continue through the fall/winter of 2020, so residents and visitors can enjoy all that it has to offer.
The City of El Mirage is hosting its annual Easter festival at the park on March 24. This free event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon and features free pictures with Hoppy the Easter Bunny.
